Google and Nestle had started a promotion contest in September 2013 for Android 4.4 KitKat, where people were given a chance to win a 2013 Nexus 7 tablet. After purchasing the special KitKat packs with the Android logo on them the customers had to message the unique code inside to the number provided. The contest has now come to an end and the winners all over the globe are being provided with a brand new Nexus 7 2013 edition tablet.
In India things took a new direction when the winners received the Nexus 7 2012 edition instead of the 2013 edition, as you might guess this could not have been treated with peace and a Facebook Group decided to raise a voice after this incident. This is certainly not a good strategy from Google/Nestle as bad impression goes a long way. Kit Kat India has responded to the matter on twitter and its just not enough to take the heat within the winners that have been cheated.
Nestle’s reasoning behind this is that the new 2013 model was just launched in India and that the contest was started before it went on sale. If that was the case then they should have mentioned it right from the start that they will be giving away the 2012 model and not show the 2013 model in every one of their promotion.
