Windows Phone 8 never gained a huge market share due to the platforms limitations and also a much inferior App Store. The recent merger of Nokia with Microsoft is not something all of a sudden, there has been talks about it way longer then it was official. It seems Microsoft is trying to raise the market standard like Apple did once back with the launch of the original iPhone. Apple’s launch of the iPhone caused a sudden increase in the global smartphone technology because they had everything of their own, The iOS was an advance operating system with a support of many applications through their iTunes store. This resulted in Google’s expansion of android and the had a huge support from big groups like SAMSUNG who had the big manufacturing capabilities almost what Google needed. The price of the war between Apple Inc. & Google Inc. was paid by Nokia as their much preferred Symbian OS wasn’t good enough. Nokia tried to improve it and made some great phones like the Nokia N8 but eventually they had to surrender.
Microsoft on the other hand being worlds most famous software giant introduced the windows phone 7 moving from their windows mobile platform which wasn’t very good in the first place. Now with the merger of Nokia & Microsoft the Windows phone 8 platform will be integrated and this will result in innovation as we have seen Google’s Nexus devices always bringing something great on the table. Windows Phone 8 has emerged very well and has also been able to suppress Apple’s iOS in the middle east. So there is no harm in saying that Microsoft has some goal to achieve which will boost up the Windows Phone 8 drastically. The PC is Microsoft’s biggest bet as they are powering almost 75% of the worlds laptop and desktop PC’s hence making a better integration of Windows Phone 8 with the windows PC will for sure give them a head start over Google’s approach for the same with the Chrome OS. We must also not ignore the fact that Windows Phone 8’s Marketplace is increasing constantly and will soon be on-par with Android’s. Also what will help Windows Phone 8 crawl up in the future is likely the everlasting war between Google & Apple. All that stands in the way of Windows Phone 8 is Google’s alliance with the Korean Giant SAMSUNG. With a manufacturing power like that they push 50+ android phones models a year and this has resulted in the significant growth of android over the years. Samsung has been working on their own OS (Tizen 3.0) and this is an alarm for Google. So all these facts are pointing towards the advancement of Windows Phone 8 in the coming years.
