This week, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi made waves with its high-end foldable device announcement: the Mix Fold 3. With an impressive hardware upgrade over its predecessor and several innovative features, the Mix Fold 3 is shaping up to be one of the leading foldables for 2023. With a thickness of 10.9mm when folded (5.3mm unfolded) it’s only 0.3mm thicker than its previous model but boasts a 4,800 mAh battery as opposed to the 4,500 mAh battery on the Mix Fold 2.
Additionally, the cutting-edge foldable now supports fast 50W wireless charging via wireless coils included in the slim design. Without a doubt, the Mix Fold 3 from Xiaomi is set to compete with other top foldables such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 and Honor Magic V2.
Xiaomi has pulled out all the stops for its latest foldable, the Mix Fold 3. Featuring an ambitious four-camera setup – a 10MP shooter with 3.2x optical zoom, a longer 5x telephoto camera with a 10MP sensor, a 50MP large sensor main camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera – the Mix Fold 3 is certainly no slouch when it comes to photography.
The device’s hinge has also been upgraded; made up of 198 components that take up to 17% less space than its predecessor, the hinge supports angles between 45° and 135°. It’s clear that Xiaomi is giving its users more options with this foldable.
But even with all these improvements, the Mix Fold 3 is limited to the Chinese market. While this could be an opportunity missed by Xiaomi, it could also be a reasonable decision given the device’s limited appeal.
