It hasn’t been long since Sony started rolling out the official Android Lollipop 5.0 updates to it’s Xperia Z Series Flagships. Since then people have experienced several minor bugs with the new software build but so far nothing massive (like in the Nexus 5) had been reported. Sadly as it turns out the latest update isn’t perfect after all, in fact the users that have been affected by a certain unknown memory bug seem to be real angry now. In the initial rollout’s it has been reported that several minor bug fixes were necessary in the Android 5.0 Lollipop update that Sony provided for the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2. Since then a minor Build is being pushed to Xperia users around the globe, to achieve a more stable software experience but it has seemed to affect some users in a negative way already.

Plenty of Xperia Z3, Z2, Z1 & Z Ultra owners have been circling the Customer Care Centers recently about a Unknown Memory Bug that shows only 4GB of Available Storage after updating to Lollipop, as one can guess this affects the user personal data directly. Users cannot access the missing memory after the update and have reported that rolling back to latest Android 4.4 KitKat builds is the only known solution offered by the support team. This process however leaves your device Wiped Clean causing major data loss in several cases, as one does not generally back up the device while updating through official OTA updates. The Good news is that for now this issue seems to be rather isolated, hence it won’t affect all Xperia’s but you don’t know if it is going to affect you until it’s already too late so we recommend taking a back up before the times turn worse on you. Stay tuned for more updates on this topic and also let us know if your a victim of this Bug in the comments section below.
