When it comes to software updates, the OEM’s have been know to deliver latest android versions to their flagships on a priority basis and it sounds nothing but fare. Sony is planning to do the same with the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update and shall begin providing it to users of Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact, Z5 Premium and Z3+ very soon. In a latest discovery through our sources at Sony’s R&D in the Asia Pacific region we have managed to get our hands on an official update log that clearly indicates that the update is imminent to the above mentioned handsets, at least the Z5 family.
Once the OTA’s are uploaded, Sony will begin updating it’s unlocked units all over Asia, Europe and Africa. However the release for the American & Australian continents might happen a little later due the large scale carrier branding. Android 6.0 Marshmallow was released to Nexus devices back in October 2015, it brought minimal cosmetic changes but a few very important under the hood improvements like Apps Permissions. We are also trying to uncover Sony’s plans on updating the Xperia Z3, Z3 and C5 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, so be sure to check in again with us.
