Just a few days ago we reported that Sony won’t be updating the Xperia SP along with a handful of devices to Android 4.4 KitKat according to the information provided to us from one of our sources at Sony’s, but it seems like the Xperia SP might be luckier than others after all. After the initial report of the update not being provided to the Xperia SP in spite of it’s capabilities to handle it perfectly there were many “Petitions” started about it and it seems like they have achieved their Goal. Today our source reported that the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Xperia SP has been put under re-consideration and if things go perfectly then the update will show up in June 2014.
The fact that Sony Xperia SP uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor and Sony’s own UI isn’t much of a drag has convinced the engineers at Sony to finally step up for their loyal customers. The Xperia SP was a great Smartphone and still is, it out performs Samsung’s Galaxy S3 in number of things (Smoothness being the most obvious) so it does deserve an update to KitKat. As things go for the other Xperia Devices they still won’t be updated to KitKat and shall end their journey with JellyBean 4.3 ! Sorry fellas.
