Sony hasn’t been the king of android updates ever and it seems like it won’t ever change, we have a sad news for all the mid-range Xperia owners from a direct statement from none other than one of the Head Engineer at Sony Care, India. The software engineer has confirmed us that Sony has officially dropped plans to update the mid-range devices from last year to Android 4.4.2 KitKat and hence Android 4.3 will be the last update that the following devices will ever see.
- Sony Xperia SP
- Sony Xperia C
- Sony Xperia L
- Sony Xperia M
- Sony Xperia V
While this isn’t something to be shocked about, I personally feel that Sony could have at least treated the Xperia SP with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat as the device has some promising specifications, also the initial price wasn’t that low either. Talking about the Xperia M, Xperia C and Xperia L chances were already “none to very little” for those to ever see Android 4.4.2, not solely based on the price they come but also considering that Sony hasn’t been able to update the Xperia Z from last year to KitKat yet. While many of you may be upset to hear this news you can at least be happy knowing that Android 4.3 isn’t something that you should worry about, you all will get it for sure (some of you might already have).
Additionally if you happen to have a Xperia Z1 or Xperia Z Ultra then the update is already available in some regions and will be joining more soon enough, for the Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia Z1 compact and Xperia ZR owners you will start receiving the update sometime in the middle of next month.
