A recent leaked document suggests that Samsung might be planning to update quite a lot devices with Android 4.4 KitKat. With the price tags as high as Galaxy S III, Note II, S4 & Note 3 the update is surely coming to them but the mid-rangers from 2012 might also get a taste of delicious new KitKat. We have discussed the flexibility of KitKat 4.4 to run with devices with RAM as low as 512MB and all the devices that show up in the leaked document, do make this requirement.
The Devices that are now expected to get some KitKat treatment from
Samsung.Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S III,Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Fresh
The document does not mention when or if for sure, but a hope is something to start with and I personally believe that Samsung will make it happen as they have too many customers in mid-range to satisfy. There are likely more devices on the list, but these weren’t captured by the source of the picture. The biggest surprise is that Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note were not mentioned anywhere which makes us believe that they are probably too old to update or just the 18 months theory that manufacturers seem to follow a lot.
