Samsung already made us aware of its future plans to use 1440p displays for their 2014 flagship devices, it seems that they did mean it as Samsung Display CEO Kinam Kim gave confirmation on being ready to mass produce 560ppi AMOLED panels (1440p). This makes the Galaxy S5 to be the first device to come with a screen resolution of 2560 x 1440. At this point we are not aware of the benefits it may offer over the 1080p displays (Though better sharpness is obvious) and some might even believe it to be an overkill but there was a time when flagship devices had a resolution of 480 x 800 and 1080p seemed to be an overkill too.
