The Samsung Galaxy S5 could be arriving sometime in Mid-March and SamMobile claims to have a confirmed set of specifications for the upcoming flagship along with the answer to the question worth a million dollar –
“Galaxy S5 plastic or metal?”
Samsung seems to have applied, what you may know as “The Apple Strategy” with their new iPhones from 2013, there will be two variants of the Galaxy S5, one built using plastic materials and the other using metals. Adding a simple two plus two logic here we can expect the metal variant to be more expensive and shall go up to around a 800 Euros approximately, the plastic variant on the other hand will be a bit cheaper at 650 Euros approximately (can’t really be called cheap though). The metal variant is also rumored to be launched under the rumored premium “Galaxy F series”
Coming to specifications, the confirmed ones by SamMobile are in alliance with the leaks from the past few weeks and hence an AMOLED display (5.25-inches) with a resolution of 2,560×1,440 pixels, 16-megapixel rear camera (Optical Image Stabilization still not confirmed), and finally an Exynos 6 processor or a Snapdragon 805 SoC to power the beast (Region dependent), though Samsung seems to have solved the LTE issue with the Exynos SoC’s. The previously known Android 4.4 KitKat is another go here, with a new Touchwiz skinning it. The report also claims that Samsung will be launching the Galaxy S5 Zoom, so all you Photographers out there get ready for some action. Additionally the Galaxy S5 mini will also join the forces for 2015, launching sometime around June.
