Android 4.4.2 KitKat has now started rolling out for the International 3G variant (GT-N7100) of the Galaxy Note 2 and considering the usual trend of updates the carrier variants in North America will be the last to get it. Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has always been in misery when talking about android updates, it came with Android 4.1 out of the box but then it was stuck on it for a complete year and in some less fortunate regions it still might be. The last major update was Android 4.3 that didn’t quite make an impression to the Note 2 users and hence the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is what everyone is looking forward to as it will be as far as the device will be going in terms of software updates (The official way).
With the release of Android 4.4 Kitkat to the GT-N7100 it won’t be long before the 4G LTE variant GT-N7105 gets it too but as for the USA and Canadian carrier variants it might take a little more time. Android 4.3 was released back in November 2013 but it took an awful lot of time to reach the carriers in the States and The Great White North, considering that the speed of update was still pretty decent for the Note 2 the Android 4.4.2 might be available sometime next month starting from SPRINT, others shall follow soon enough but the roll-out will take around August to complete. Talking about Canada the carriers like Rogers and Bell will be the first ones to get it but that isn’t happening anytime soon too.
