It was just a couple of weeks ago that we heard of the new member in Samsung’s Galaxy line of Smartphones and now it seems it will take its’s place between the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Mini. The Galaxy Alpha has been expected as Samsung’s move towards the 4.7 inch iPhone 6 but the recent leaks have left us puzzled. According to the good folks over at AllAboutSamsung the Alpha will be sporting a 4.8 Inch Super Amoled Display at a 720P HD Resolution (Same as the Galaxy S3 from 2012), along with it there will be the home cooked Exynos 5433 SoC (system on a chip) that recently put Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 to shame in the AnTuTu benchmark. Now judging from the processor, the Galaxy Alpha is a beast but the Display and a Camera sensor at 12MP speak’s otherwise. It’s not like Samsung couldn’t have included a 1080p Amoled display on a 4.8 Inch screen and couple it with the latest 16MP ISOCELL camera in the Alpha but then it would be sort of a differently build Galaxy S5 wouldn’t it ?
Leaked Specifications of Samsung Galaxy Alpha

At this point the design isn’t really speaking to customers due to it’s resemblance of the earlier iterations of the the Galaxy S line (galaxy S2 & S Advance) but there is that new shiny metal frame running around it to make the difference of a sort (at least according to Samsung). Taking into account that this device was expected to be the direct competitor of the Apple iPhone 6, Samsung didn’t hit the mark they should have. A Full HD display and 16MP camera, along with a metal back panel could have done the trick here but we are no one to judge Samsung’s intentions as they have proved to be most successful android device manufacturer’s over the past year.
The Galaxy Alpha is expected to be officially announced on 13th this month (Earlier August 4th) and the source says that the final design of the phone hasn’t been “fully leaked” yet, which is quite confusing after seeing all those leaked images
