Technology enthusiasts can now get their first taste of the forthcoming Android 14 release with OnePlus launching their OxygenOS 14 Open Beta 1 for the OnePlus 11. This new open beta program, announced today on the OnePlus Community forums, provides curious users with an early opportunity to experience the updates and features of OxygenOS 14.
This isn’t the first time Android 14 has been available in the wild but this is the first time OnePlus users are able to test the update in a more formal capacity. OnePlus encourages users to take part in the Open Beta program saying, “Experience the new features and improvements OxygenOS 14 has to offer”. However, they also warn that, as with all Open Beta builds, some of the features may not be available initially but users can expect more in subsequent versions.
OnePlus has launched Open Beta 1 in North America and India for the OnePlus 11, giving select users a glimpse of OxygenOS 14 with all its features such as the Trinity Engine. However, availability is limited to just 5,000 testers in India and not all regions have access. Those looking to participate can download the necessary files from OnePlus’ website and use the company’s own manual update tool to install the update. Reverting back to Android 13 will require a factory reset, so users should consider that before committing to the beta.
Initially promised for a September 25th release date, this update is going to be noticeably delayed due to Google unexpectedly postponing its Android 14 release. Whilst yet to say anything about the effect this has on their release, OnePlus have hopped on board the Open Beta 1 train for now. Will they keep it rolling when Android 14 launches? Only time will tell.
