Since the time Android took the crown of the smartphone operating systems we all have wondered about an Android powered device from Nokia but all we eventually got were mid-rangers powered by Symbian and the Lumia Series that depended on Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS. Now again a rumor has spread and a hope has just begun but Nokia isn’t in a good place just yet to make it happen. A Chinese site CTechnology has some insider info about the status of the project according to which the Android development was led by Peter Skillman, former VP MeeGo UX and Services Design and current Head of Design for HERE. Skillman was also VP of Design at Palm until 2010. Nokia was reportedly working on several Android devices that also included a mini tablet with a 7 Inch display and Snapdragon 400 for the processing power.
As part of the Nokia-Microsoft deal Nokia can’t sell Nokia-branded phones for two years and as Nokia hasn’t been turning profits lately so a new brand is unquestionable. Also a new brand wouldn’t do the trick as Nokia’s name is what people have depended upon for decades and flexible displays, wireless power transmission and electromagnetic energy generation are the new fields Nokia will be focusing on according to our source. This all implies that we may not see an Android powered dream device from Nokia that millions of us are silently waiting for any time soon.
