Android 4.4 has been on everyone’s demand list since it was reviled by Google and its time for the Nexus 7 (Cellular Edition) to have a bite of KitKat as the update is now rolling out to users of both 2012 & 2013 editions. The update is a bit late as it was already provided to the Wi-Fi models of Nexus 7 along with Nexus 10 and Nexus 4. The update brings the sweetness of KitKat 4.4 along with the highlighting features such as a New Phone app with local search capabilities, a brand new Google Photos gallery, an unified Hangouts app for SMS, MMS and Gtalk chats and colorful emojis for the Google keyboard. It also improves UI performance because of the presence of Project Svelte (Upgraded version on Project Butter from JellyBean) along with improved RAM management that makes Multi-Tasking better on the Nexus 7.
The Update is 185.6MB in Size in OTA (Over the Air). To download and install the firmware via OTA, go to Settings > More > About Device > Software update > Update.
