Out of the blue, a minor OTA (over the air) update based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat seems to have solved the biggest of issues on the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2. The Recent update sized around 37 Mega Bytes with a Build Number KOT49H.G7102DDUBNK1 that was pushed to users about 3 days ago has been able to help many with the Random Restart + Blue Screen Issues. This has also been the case for the unit we use, but further confirmation isn’t guaranteed yet.
To assume that Samsung has finally fixed the issues on Grand 2 in the Android 4.4.2 KitKat build itself, creates two scenarios for the future updates. The First being that they are planning to update the Grand 2 directly to Android 5.0 Lollipop, like the Galaxy S4, S5, Note 3 and Note 4. The Second is that users will eventually be stuck at Android 4.4.2, and there are no future updates. If one must recall the original Galaxy Grand was only updated once from Android 4.1.2 to Android 4.2.2 and hence the chances for the Android 5.0 Lollipop are pretty low, if Samsung has it’s way. At this moment it’s hard to comment on what Samsung has on it’s mind, also they are already preparing to launch the Galaxy Grand 3 sometime next year.
