The biggest update to windows phone 8 since windows phone 8 itself is due for another update sometime soon, Confused ? Well what we mean is that Microsoft has already started working on the General Distribution Release 1 (GDR1) update for Windows Phone 8.1. The changes aren’t gonna make the WP 8.1 the next big thing for sure but it will add some missed functionality. There are some of the changes that are meant for Manufacturers to build their devices on, while some of these are created solely for the users.
Features & Changes in Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1 Update
- Folders In Start Screen
- Voice over LTE/4G
- Support for 1280 x 800 resolution
- Support for Network Time protocol
- A Phone Book entry for Cortana can be created to enable integration with Car’s navigation system
- Dual-Sim capability with both GSM + CDMA network support
As you can see that the GDR1 update for Windows Phone 8.1 brings quite a few changes, with the ability to create folders being the favorite one. The Preview for Developers who intent to participate in the GDR1 Release is expected to be made available in August itself. We will be updating this very article for any additions that come up so stay tuned, also suggest any edits we might have missed if you are aware of them.
