The Apple Pay Cash is now available for the beta testers for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch in the United States. The new feature will now allow the users to send and receive payments via Apple Pay over iMessage and will also let you pay in stores with a new Apple Pay Cash virtual debit card.
The Apple Pay Cash feature will be available for all the customers in the US when the official iOS 11.2, watchOS 4.2 versions are released but the beta testers and developers can use the feature now. In order to send or receive payments via Apple Pay Cash, you and the recipient both will need to be on the iOS 11.2, watchOS 4.2 beta to make the feature work.
The Apple Pay Cash feature is currently limited to the customers in the US having iPhoneĀ SE, iPhoneĀ 6 or later, iPadĀ Pro, iPadĀ (5thĀ generation), iPadĀ AirĀ 2, iPadĀ miniĀ 3 or later, and AppleĀ Watch. The Apple Pay Cash feature is already available to test and should be there in the Message app when you message someone using the latest beta version.
The existing Apple Pay credit cards and debit cards can be used with the Apple Pay Cash feature for sending money works. While the credit card transfers have a small fee, the debit card transfers are free. Once the Apple Pay Cash feature is set up, you can manually add money to the Apple Pay Cash in Wallet to start your balance. For transfers, the limit appears to be $3000 for now. The history of the transactions made can also be reviewed and can be emailed as a statement as well.
The feature works with Siri too for sending and receiving payments from your contacts. The Apple Pay Cash feature was initially being tested by Apple employees in a special version of iOS 11.1. At first the test was limited to just the corporate employees, but later the retail employees also got to test the feature.
