A new leaked document from Samsung Mobile India reveals the current status of the android 4.4 update for eight galaxy devices including the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 which have already received the update, sadly this leak might not prove to be a “Good news” for the Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300) owners as the current status for the device is mentioned as “Unstable” and release date has now been updated to “Not Specified” from the previous April – May time span. There have been a lot of chaos on the Android 4.4 update for the GT-I9300 and this recent leak doesn’t seem to make things any better. Just a few days ago Samsung Mobile Arabia claimed to provide the android 4.4 update to the Galaxy S3 but later retracted their statement saying “We have no plans to update the device to at present”, this might be a result of the unstable state the GT-I9300 is presently in.
On the other hand the Galaxy Note 2, Grand 2(Duos) and Note 3 Neo are already under “Testing” phase, hence considering that the results turn out to be positive, users might see an update as early as sometime next month. As for the owners of the Galaxy Mega line, both Mega 5.8 (Duos) and Mega 6.3 are put in line for the Android 4.4 update but the status seems to be “Pending” and time span “Not Specified” similarly to the Galaxy S3.
At this moment there are no confirmations on when and if the android 4.4 KitKat will make it to the Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300). The android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3 came along with many bugs, so Samsung might be taking all the time they need to ensure this doesn’t happen in the android 4.4 or simply they can’t just make it happen, may it be because of the old Exynos Chipset or 1GB RAM.
