It seems Apple hasn’t been real successful with their latest iPhone’s or even the old ones for that matter, in emerging markets like India. The iPhone 4 which was discontinued after the launch of iPhone 5C & 5S has now been brought back in India, the move is a result for the cheap price tag it offered to customers who don’t want spend an amount worth a two-wheeler for an iPhone (yes it does happen to cost same as a decent two-wheeler). The iPhone 4 is very old n basic in terms of specs but thanks to Apple’s iOS it still manages to perform well and smooth, not mention the iPhone Tag is enough for people to think of it as a Greatest of Gadget here in India (I’m not saying it isn’t but for 15000 Rs. one can score a decent Windows / Android device). The model launched three years ago has been succeeded by the 4S, 5, 5c and 5s, the last of which starts at Rs 53,500, the iPhone4 used to account for almost 15-20% of sales compared with Samsung’s 50% in the Rs15,000- Rs 20,000 segment so that’s some figures Apple won’t like to let go off.
The iPhone 4 8GB will be priced in India at around INR 15,000 ($244) through buy back schemes and EMI options. The phone is expected to go on sale as early as next week so if you are “the potential customers” Apple seems to be relying on then its you chance to prove them right.
