The search giant, Google Inc. has released the Android version distribution numbers for the end of 2013. It seems that the latest member in the Android family is finally starting to gain some share with 1.4% of the total, which is the definitely an effect of the Nexus 5 gaining popularity among smartphone users and also because of Google Play Store (Device Sale) extension toward the emerging markets like India.
As expected Jelly Bean still holds the crown with the 4.1.x versions accounting for a massive 35.9% alone, the 4.2.x backs it up at 15.4% and 4.3 also manages to throw in a decent 7.8%, making the Jelly Bean version stand out with 59.1% share globally. The Android 2.2 Froyo, 2.3 Gingerbread, and 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich continue to decline at an increased rate compared to the tally from last month. Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich lost 2.9% and 1.7% share respectively which was consumed by Jelly Bean. The most strange part is that the Tablet-Only version Honeycomb is sitting at 0.1% for some months now (some loyal tablet owners indefinably).
