Since the day Google officially announced Android 5.0 Lollipop in it’s finalized form many manufacturers like Motorola, Sony and HTC have detailed their plans for the future updates and as usual Samsung is lagging behind. Today our sources at Samsung’s R&D division have been able to send us with what is said to be the “very first update road-map based on Android 5.0 for Samsung Galaxy smartphones”. The list is rather short and the only non flagship contender to show up in this road-map is the Note 3 Neo, which has it’s fate undecided yet. The other surprising news is that the last year Galaxy S line flagship, Galaxy S4 is “Awaiting Approval” for Lollipop 5.0, while the confirmed ones include – Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3
At this moment the update is in testing phase and hence months away from the actual roll out to commence. Also the update to Android 4.4.4 KitKat (final build of KitKat 4.4) is supposed to roll out prior to the Lollipop version. The other Samsung galaxy smartphones like the Galaxy Grand 2, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy Note 2 seems to have been omitted from the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and will likely end their journey at 4.4.4 KitKat.
