amsung has not uttered a word about the Android 4.4 kitkat update for any of its Galaxy devices, the newly launched Galaxy Note 3 and the already famous Galaxy S4 have not been mentioned once to get the update anytime soon. Luckily the leaks and rumors can never be stopped and today’s leak might not only put a smile on the Galaxy Note 3 and S4 owners out there but also for those who are using the Galaxy S III and Note II from 2012. A recent leaked document indicated Samsung’s consideration on updating its mid-range Galaxy devices like the Galaxy S4 mini to Android 4.4 and now the update schedules for the Galaxy flagships showed up.
According to the document the KRT16 update (Android 4.4 KitKat) will be available to the Galaxy S4 and Note 3 in Jan 2014, while the Galaxy S3 and Note II users will have to wait by March-April 2014. Samsung surely seems to be lagging behind other manufacturers this time but with the issues that came up with Galaxy S4 and S3’s Android 4.3 update I personally vote for them to test it properly this time. Now the reason for the delay might also be the early launch of the Galaxy S5 which will surely be booting Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
At this moment all this leaked information is just another hope but it surely is something to look forward to as Samsung is known to add a lot of great new features to Android with its Touchwiz UI integration. There might be an official annoucement about this update soon from Samsung (or maybe not sooner than the Galaxy S5 launch event in Jan 2014) well either way we are happy as long as they provide it accordingly.
