Finally after weeks of wait, Samsung has started rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in India. The update is currently seeding to users of Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge in the country. However it has been confirmed that this isn’t a general release but a reserved one, one’s unlocked units with developer access are getting this update at the moment. We then contacted our sources in Samsung’s Indian R&D department in order to get more information about what they are planning with this approach and how long till the release is offered to general users. The general release will happen on Midnight, Monday 29th Feb 2016 according to them.
As for the features that this update brings, they are identical to what we have already seen in development phase. There is an updated visual design on the software side, new version of Samsung’s Internet browser, Cross App functionality in built-in apps, Google Now on Tap, Doze and better permissions control. The update hasn’t been reported as very buggy by users of this development stage and even the ones from United Kingdom, so you are good to go once you acquire it. Stay tuned for more information.
TIP : Some users have been able to get this update after activating developer options and then going into Settings » About device » Software updates.
